Viklang Sahayata and Punarvas Kendra is a Bharat Vikas Parishad Charitable
Trust
The Main Object of the trust is to channelise the funds donated by the philanthropic persons of the society to the most important task of making it Viklang Mukt. This trust is a non-religious and a non-political body. The working of the trust has been motivated by the Desire of making every child or adult affected by polio or handicapped by any accident to stand on its own.
In our country more than 40,000 persons lose their limbs in various types of accidents every year. Although many governmental, private and voluntarial organizations work on this social cause, yet are not able to cover more than 18,000 such handicapped people. The rest 20,000 are added to the already bulging queue of invalids in our country.
The Ludhiana branch of Parishad came forward to build a handicapped welfare centre which was inaugrated by Hon. Sh Jagmohan Ji, Ex-Governer, J&K under its management and control. Later a full fledged centre was established at Rishi Nagar, Ludhiana on a plot of land measuring over 3200 sq. yards. The centre was inaugrated on 19th December, 1999 by Hon. Mrs. Maneka Gandhi & Hon. Sh. Parkash Singh Badal, Chief Minister, Punjab. The centre was christened as Viklang Sahayata Kendra and has been successfully marching ahead towards its designated goal.
The trust has since then provided limbs, Caliphers, Tricycles, Wheel Chairs and Hearing Aids to as many as 32,167 patients free of cost. All the efforts in this direction are done with the help of donations received from the general public and the voluntary work being put in by the members of the Parishad, spread all over the state of Punjab.
Our centre is equipped with the most modern equipment to manufacture and fix caliphers, lower limbs (popularly known as Jaipur Foot) and upper limbs i.e. Artificial working hands. We have developed certain attachments with these hands to enable the person to lift heavy materials, work in the worksop and farms, to carry a bucket etc., the capacity to manufacture 20 limbs and miscellanous attachments per day has been developed.
The limbs manufactured by our technicians are of latest design and materials and have been adopted to suit the local conditions of the people of Punjab.
The centre manufactures the limbs that are Rapid Fit. Cosmetically and Functionally close to human limbs that permit normal Sitting, Squatting, Walking, Running, Climbing, Swimming, Driving etc. The limbs are very light and durable and very close to natural comfort. Many of the patients can, after the fitment, go back to work in field, factory, shop and office.
